As California and especially LA County continue to head in the wrong direction with respect to COVID-19, my project keeps plugging along, although at an understandably slow pace. The November 17th ‘appointment’ with the Mulholland Scenic Parkway board was more a hand-off of materials (actually a Box link, given the current state of things) to be checked off for completeness. The resulting review came back rather quickly with only a few pieces outstanding that need to be resubmitted for review.
Although the packet was full of forms and maps of the property’s relation to neighbors and the Mulholland corridor (see header), what was most interesting for me was the expanded set of materials since revisions were made to the site plan and home layout. Seeing the revised home plan with color added as well as potential suggestions around plantings for the property, was great.
To that last point, a landscape architect is being added to the team to help flesh out all the requirements by the Los Angeles City Planning Department as we move into final review. So welcome Jason Lee Design Studio, who’s scope of work will eventually include schematic design and hardscape plan, the landscape/planting plan, and the irrigation plan. I look forward to sharing this work as it develops as we inch towards the final set of approvals on the overall build.
This post was ready several weeks ago, but some weirdness with hosting prevented the graphics from showing up, so it kind of went up and down over the last few weeks as I tested multiple ways to fix. In the new year, I’m resolving to give more regular updates (even though things are moving slowly from an approval standpoint) as I am forging ahead on interior design materials and fixture research.
